Ramzan Zakir, MD

Interventional Cardiologist located in Chester, NJ

Dr. Zakir is a native of New Jersey and attended Rutgers college and completed his internship and residency at UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School. He won the Department of Medicine Research award and several other recognitions for his commitment to advance the field of medicine. He spent an additional year as chief medical resident in the UMDNJ program and Hackensack University Hospital where he taught and had various administrative duties. He completed his cardiology fellowship at UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School and was chief fellow the final year. He completed an interventional fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center and did advanced training in carotid stenting at Lenox Hill Hospital. He has numerous publications and has presented at numerous international conferences.

Dr. Zakir is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rutgers Medical School, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he is involved in research and fellow training. From 2011 to 2016 he was Director of Transradial Catheterization where he has successfully performed over a thousand procedures and teaches other cardiologists on how to safely perform the procedure through the wrist. His area of expertise is complex coronary interventions, chronic total occlusion, carotid artery stenting, endovascular interventions for patients with symptomatic peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and venous ablations for venous insufficiency.

Dr. Zakir is also the Director of the Peripheral Vascular Program at Saint Peter’s University Hospital. He is the principal investigator of several clinical trials to enhance the management of patients with PAD. He is invited faculty at several international conferences and lectures throughout the country.

Daniel Simon, MD

Interventional Radiologist located in Chester, NJ

Dr. Daniel Simon has been a practicing Interventional Radiologist for over 20 years. He has pioneered new techniques of treatment and participated as an investigator in numerous clinical trials. Dr. Simon attended Brown University for his undergraduate studies. Following graduation, and prior to medical school, at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he worked as an analyst for the Paine Webber Venture Capital Group.

He interned at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in Internal Medicine, and did his Residency in Radiology at North Shore University Hospital in New York. He pursued a fellowship in Interventional Radiology at UCSF in San Francisco. Dr. Simon was Co-Chief of Interventional Radiology at North Shore University Hospital in New York. He was Chief Officer of Interventional Radiology at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ. Dr. Simon then went on to be the Medical Director of the Vascular Access Center of West Orange, NJ.

Currently, he is the Chief Medical Officer of Vascular Management Associates in New Brunswick NJ, and the Director of Peripheral Interventions for Maryland Cardiology Associates. He now serves as a consultant to Philips Image Guided Therapy Devices (IGTD), Abbott Vascular, Terumo Medical Corporation, and Cardiovascular Systems Incorporated. He has functioned as advisor to five FDA device panels and is a reviewer for the Journal of Interventional Radiology. He is board certified in Radiology and Interventional Radiology. Currently, he provides Endovascular Care in New York, New Jersey, and Maryland.

Obi Imegwu, MD

Vascular Surgeon located in Chester, NJ

Dr. Obi J. Imegwu completed his vascular fellowship in 2001. His primary clinical interests include minimally invasive general surgery (laparoscopic and robotic hernia repair, as well as stomach, gallbladder, small intestinal and colon surgeries) in addition to open and minimally invasive vascular surgeries (carotid, aortic, peripheral vascular, and vein surgeries).

Dr. Imegwu has four journal publications relating to wound healing research conducted during his general surgery training and a 5th publication based on molecular research completed during his vascular surgery training. He is co-author in a clinical publication relating to laparoscopic splenectomy, and he has co-authored a chapter in a surgical nutrition and metabolism text.

Dr. Imegwu’s clinical impact may be best summarized by his patients who bestowed a Patient Choice Award in 2011 and a Compassionate Doctor Recognition in 2011-2012.
